STILLWRITE

Privacy Policy

Stillwrite stores a personal journal on your device and offers on-device AI reflections on supported devices.

Journal data and photos

Entry text, selected photos, creation dates, generated summaries, moods, themes, questions, and app preferences are stored on your device. Photos saved with entries are resized and re-encoded. The app is designed not to retain the original file's location or other metadata; information visible in the image itself remains visible.

We do not operate a server that receives your journal, and the app does not send entries or photos to developer-operated servers. There are no app accounts, advertisements, advertising tracking, or third-party usage analytics SDKs.

AI processing

Reflections use Apple's Foundation Models framework to process entry text and, when supported, attached photos on the device. Your journal is not sent to third-party AI services. Writing and saving remain available when AI is unavailable.

System integrations

The app and its widgets share local journal data and preferences within their app group. Spotlight and widgets may display information from entries. Settings can disable the display of entry text, but summaries, moods, themes, or other derived information may still appear.

Optional daily notifications require your permission, which you can change in system settings. Photos are imported through the system picker when you select them.

When you use Siri or Shortcuts, information supplied to those features is handled according to Apple's settings and policies. Siri's own processing is separate from Stillwrite's on-device AI reflections.

Exports and backups

You can export your journal and choose a destination through the system share sheet. Handling by an app or service you choose is governed by that provider's policies.

Stillwrite does not provide its own cloud sync. Depending on your device settings, app data may be included in iCloud or computer backups and other system-managed transfers. We do not receive those backups.

Retention and deletion

You can delete individual entries in the app. Local copies of an earlier data store may be retained during migration to protect against data loss. Deleting an entry does not erase these migration copies, previous device backups, or files you have already exported.

Offloading the app keeps its data. To remove app data, use the system's Delete App option and check system settings for any retained shared data or backups. Manage exported files and backups at their respective destinations. We cannot access, restore, or remotely delete your local journal.

Support and this website

If you email us, we handle your email address and the information you send to respond and investigate the issue. Sending journal text or photos is not required. Retention and deletion policy: We retain support correspondence for as long as needed to respond, resolve the issue, and maintain necessary records, and then delete it. Where retention is required by law, the applicable period applies. Contact us to request deletion. Service providers used for support and their handling of this information: We use email services to send, receive, and store support correspondence. Their providers process messages for delivery, storage, and security. We do not use support messages for advertising or to train third-party AI.

Website hosting and access-log practices: This site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub logs visitor IP addresses for security purposes. See the GitHub Privacy Statement for details. We do not add analytics, advertising, tracking cookies, or external fonts to this site. Support communications and website visits are separate from the app's on-device journal processing.
